Sunday morning was cool, cloudy and a little rainy so we decided to try our luck with camping, seeing as how boating was not an option. Olivia truly LOVED camping and I think her enthusiasm rubbed off on all of us. We set up my Dad's camper, built a fire and then grilled some lunch. Later that evening, the three of us went to Ireland, IN, to see Andrea and Ryan's new house. We had a delicious home cooked meal but unfortunately, Olivia left her happy demeanor in the camper. We called it an early night and went straight back to my parents' house so Liv could get to bed.
Monday wasn't nice again so we headed back out to the Ferdinand State Forest. We made some old hot chocolate but Liv didn't mind the cardboard taste! Once Alex and Giesla arrived, we head to the playground for the swings, slides and "teeter-tots."
Dinner was $1 pizza and beer at Happy Hour in Celestine, IN - and Vick and Connie Betz joined us! It was so great to have pizza in Giesla's hometown with her parents - they couldn't sit through dinner without multiple people coming to talk to them. We headed back out to the campsite for s'mores. Even though it was raining on and off, we still went back to the playground and then sat around the "camping fire." Duane, Olivia and I stayed in the camper that night so she could really experience camping. She got to bed pretty late but slept well - that is until she rolled out of bed! She cried pretty hard but Duane was able to convince her to get back in the bed. Her short night of sleep meant an unpleasant morning for us - wow was she ever cranky!
My uncle Kenny and aunt Jan came out on Tuesday morning to visit us and have breakfast. We packed up the camper and took a sad, tired Olivia back to my parents' house. Liv's lack of sleep proved to be hard on her (and me) and she was a handful the rest of the afternoon. I don't think I've ever seen her behave so badly....I get a little anxiety just thinking of it now!
That evening we had dinner at Duane's parents' house, along with his sister and her family and my mom. After dinner, the 4-wheeler came out so Olivia was able to ride on it again. I even went for a spin with Liv and Duane. She definitely was country-fied!
Wednesday was Holiday World day! Olivia was in a great mood that morning so we felt pretty good about heading over to the park. It took her a while to get in the mood for rides, though. I had so wanted cute pictures of her on rides that I went on as a kid but as you'll see below - she was not happy.

Next we tried the water bumpers and this brought out Liv's smile. We moved on and tried more rides throughout the park. Unfortunately, Liv was too short to ride the kiddie "rollerposter."
We had a quick lunch and then rode a couple more rides. Early afternoon came way too quick and it was time to head back to my parents' so Liv could nap. Duane couldn't leave the park without having some Utterly Blue ice cream - Liv was in heaven.
Olivia took a great nap and then it was time to pack up again and head to Patoka Lake for a evening cruise. Duane spent this night with a friend so it was just the girls with my parents. Olivia had a great time and even got in the water with her Papa to swim.
On Thursday, July 4, we headed back to Patoka for more boating fun. Too bad Mother Nature wanted it to stay cool and cloudy!
Thursday night we said our goodbyes and packed up the truck. Friday morning we were out the door by 8am for the long drive home. We actually made decent time and were back in St. Paul close to 9pm. Saturday was a tough day for Liv - she was very crabby and melting down about everything. Sunday she was a bit better so we rode our bikes to the St. Paul Farmer's Market and went out for lunch. The weather was hot and sunny in St. Paul!
