Summer Fun (or at least as much as you can with a toddler who is going through a phase...)

Just as the subject line says, we've been having some tough weeks with Olivia. She is in a major funk and very, very whiny, emotional and just plain difficult. She has finally started going #2 again on the potty - and that's huge. It took about 4 weeks of lots of tears and patience and then suddenly one day, she made the switch.

Thursday evening Duane insisted on us going to the Ramsey County Fair. Oh.My.God. This was a bad idea for many reasons...1. Olivia was awful; 2. it was ghe-tto; 3. it's a county fair.... Once we finally got Liv to eat a little dinner, she was able to ride a couple, creepy Carney rides. Yikes. It was a county fair - you get the picture. We were very thankful that Liv could at least ride the rides and for most of them, she was the only kid!

Friday evening we went out to dinner and then called it a night. Olivia spent most of her days transitioning to the preschool room (can you believe it?!) so she was pretty tired. And so were we!

Saturday morning it was cloudy and rainy so Duane ran errands with Liv and I ran to Target. We had plans to head to the Bodkin's for dinner so it was imperative Liv took a good nap. Even though it was a solid nap, she was not happy when she woke up. Thankfully she pulled it together before we got to the Bodkin's!

"playing baseball!" She chopped at the ball more than actually hitting it but she tried!
Sunday was a beautiful day weather wise so we got out on our bikes again. Unfortunately, Duane wasn't 100% sure on his route back and we ended up WAY out of our way and had quite the ride to get back home. I laid in the sun for a bit while Liv napped and then we started packing up some things in the basement. We had an early dinner and then we went to go meet our puppy. Yes, you read that correct, I said "our puppy."

The timing of this puppy isn't the best, considering we're moving soon, but we already paid for her so we're going to go with it. I learned about a lady at BSC who breeds Cavalier King Charles spaniels and she happened to have an accidental pregnancy. (Her teenage sons were supposed to keep their male and female apart one weekend and didn't stick to that plan....hence the puppies!) Also, the mama dog happened to have a female, Blenheim (a certain type of coloring) puppy so I guess it was meant to be. We are going to name her Lady and we'll get her around mid-August. I must say, she is SO cute!!!

look at that face! Cute, isn't she?!

Our house is still on the market with little to no showings so if you can, please say a little prayer or think a positive thought to send interested buyers our way! We lowered the price today so we'll see if this generates anymore interest. Other than that, it's same old, same old in St. Paul!
