Happy 3rd Birthday, Olivia!

Can you believe it?! Olivia Rose is 3 years old! I think I'm still in denial but I wouldn't change it for the world. This age is a lot of fun and I love how talkative and inquisitive she is....but I don't love the attitude she'll sometimes show us. I know that's part of it, though.

Friday night we went out for Mexican and then went to Target to stock up for the weekend/week. We had a busy Saturday so it was nice to get the grocery shopping out of the way. I had a hair appointment right away on Saturday and then we met up with Duane's boss and his family at Minnehaha Falls. They have a really great restaurant in the park called Sea Salt. Olivia about ate her weight in fish and then she was rewarded with some blueberry ice cream.

She napped at home and shortly after she woke up, Jaron & Crystal came over for her party. We had a really nice night with them and Liv loved being the center of attention. She received a cute bunny (Buffy Foo-foo) and matching t-shirt from them, which they picked up in Denmark. Duane and I gave her a Princess Sofia castle. We had cupcakes for dessert and she got very embarrassed when we all sang to her. You'll notice that I was super lazy this year and went to Party City for the decorations and went even a step further and make cupcakes from a boxed mix.... Does anyone else feel as overwhelmed and inferior by Pinterest as I do? I see all these amazing birthday party ideas but then they overwhelm and stress me out....therefore, Party City and Betty Crocker will continue to be staples in our lives! Haha!

Sunday morning was cloudy and pretty cool so we stayed indoors. Olivia and Duane ran a couple errands, I vacuumed while they were gone and then it was already lunch time. Since our fire pit was soaked from the previous night's rainfall, I asked Duane to set up our small fire pit. We roasted hot dogs for lunch and made s'mores, too. It was a lot of fun!

Today, Monday the 16th, was Liv's actual birthday. At school, kids are not allowed to pass out treats but parents may come and read to the class. So, before lunch I read "The Very, Fairy Princess" to a bunch of 3 year olds....I lost their attention about 2 pages into the book. We left work early and took Liv and Lady to a nearby park and then came home for 'ba-sghetti' and more cupcakes. Olivia opened a couple more presents and cards. Her aunt Andrea outshone us all with a singing Cinderella card; Liv's face lit up and she couldn't stop smiling about it. She even took it to bed tonight!

This lucky little girl gets yet another birthday party when we go back to Ferdinand in a couple weeks. She's going to think that the whole month of September is all about her! (as if it isn't?!)
