A visit with Alex and GG

What a great weekend we just had with Alex and GG!!! We were so lucky to have them come up for a visit and they get double bonus points for arriving in MN via Mega Bus! I can totally understand why they didn't want to make the 12-hour drive as it's quite a haul for such a short visit. Mega Bus worked fairly well for them, other than an early morning freeze in Chicago waiting for a mega-late bus... Their arrival into Minneapolis was a few hours late but we quickly caught up at Punch over some beer, pizza and ice cream. Olivia wowed us all by being the second person (obviously Duane was the first) to finish her pizza. After dinner we came home and settled in for the night.

Feeling like it was Christmas morning, Olivia was calling for me at 5:15am on Saturday but thankfully Duane was able to talk her into laying quietly until everyone else was ready to get out of bed. I think she stayed quiet for about one more hour and then he got up with her. We lounged around in the morning and ate breakfast - well, everyone but Liv ate breakfast. She was way too into entertaining Alex and Giesla! Alex needed to get a long run in so Duane and Liv rode alongside him on the bike. Giesla and I stayed inside and relaxed.

After the run/bike ride, we headed out to run some errands. We had lunch out and headed to REI; Olivia got a hat from Alex & GG for Easter. By the time we were back home, it was 2pm and Olivia was out for her nap and didn't move until I woke her at 4:30pm. That's usually a bad idea and this time it proved to be true again. She was fairly happy and made it through dinner but we decided to just come home and relax after guac at Barrio. We put on our jammies and started CARS but about halfway through the movie, Liv asked to go to bed....well, okay! I'm pretty sure CARS isn't a movie for her - she asked for Sofia at one point....she's a girly girl!

like father like daughter!
Sunday morning we headed to the Children's Museum. It was pretty crowded right off the bat so that was annoying....Olivia had a great time, though, and showed Alex and Giesla around the place.

this one's for you, Guncle! ;)

After the museum we came back to our house and served up leftovers out of the fridge for lunch! Giesla read to Liv and put her down for her nap and then we headed to Target for some shopping. As I was checking out at Target, Duane texted me, "Now she's singing Old McDonald." Great - Liv decided to skip her nap! So, to keep her going, we took another bike ride while Alex and Giesla ran. We had dinner and then it was time for Liv to go to bed. She quickly started melting down so Alex read to her and she was fast asleep. I took them to the bus station and crawled into bed.

Around 1:30am, Liv woke us up crying; I didn't hurry to get up because I figured she'd just get herself back to sleep. She kept crying to I went in to check on her....I found her pillow and head covered in vomit. Awesome. So, Duane gave Liv a bath while I stripped her bed and put on clean sheets. She threw up another time after the bath so I stayed up with her and we watched FINDING NEMO. There was 1 tiny episode of puke but I decided she was probably done and laid her back in bed after 4am. She and I slept until 8:30am and then she woke me up. She had a waffle and a half, a banana and lots of water and by 10am she was running around the house like it was a normal day. She had a great day today but her appetite isn't back to normal just yet, but I'm not worried.

Thanks again, Alex and GG, for braving the bus system and spending the weekend with us! We had a great time and you guys really kept Liv entertained! I'll remind her that you don't live at the bus station...  :)
