Here comes Peter Cottontail....

Happy (belated) Easter everyone! Olivia started her weekend early on Wednesday evening when Duane returned home from being in California for a few days. She had the biggest smile on her face when she saw him walking up the sidewalk. He brought her several gifts and she was so excited - he brought airplane cookies, a starfish and a t-shirt.

We started our weekend pretty low key and ate leftovers for dinner on Friday night. Saturday morning Duane went into work for several hours so Liv and I ran an errand at a local mall. I promised her if she cooperated and didn't cry, she could ride the carousel. She was a great little shopper and rode a "pink horse."

Olivia took a nice nap in the afternoon and so did Duane! Actually, when Liv woke up and realized Duane was napping in the basement, she yelled down the stairs, "Daddy! Wake up!" We drove over to Maple Grove to walk around their outdoor mall and have dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. Liv was oh-so-cool in her new jacket and sunglasses. She also loves to "pay" for dinner when we go out to eat.

Easter Sunday morning was freezing but the Easter Bunny managed to hop into our yard and leave some eggs on the snow. When Liv noticed her baskets of gifts, she gave them a quick glance and then her attention was all for the plastic eggs. Awesome! She really enjoyed hunting for eggs in the backyard - it's just a shame it was SO COLD! I didn't even bother with an Easter dress because I knew it was going to be freezing.

 

The best part of Olivia's Easter was our brunch at Jaron & Crystal's house. They made us an amazing brunch and Liv made herself right at home. Once again, she was seated at the table asking for food before anyone sat down! She also proved that she can stuff herself like we all do on a holiday. She had a normal breakfast at our house before we left; then she ate eggs, ham, potatoes, a roll, some asparagus and orange juice during our brunch.  

 

Jaron & Crystal spoiled her and gave her an Easter basket filled with candy. Being the boring mom that I am, I tried to keep that candy from her. However, while we were cleaning up the kitchen, I turned around to find her with 2 chocolate bunnies clutched in each hand with a look on her face that said, "okay....what's the best way to do this?!" With my supervision, she ended up getting 2 bites out of the bunny and a couple bites of a cupcake. After her binging, the 2 big dogs came upstairs to entertain Liv - Morgan and Zurich. Olivia loves these dogs and she really has no fear of them. If she looks a little worse for wear it's because shortly before the dogs came upstairs, she was running around and slipped and fell on her nose. She ended up with a pretty bad bloody nose but one mention of the dogs and she was good to go!

we had so hoped she would fall asleep next to them but it didn't happen - she was so concerned with petting them and covering them with the towel.

 Around 2:30 we decided she had had enough fun and we needed to head home. We knew she'd fall asleep in the car and before we were even 15 minutes from the Stone's house, she was out, bunny ears and all! It was such a cute picture.

We drove around for about 1.5 hours so she could sleep off her Easter coma. Once at home, Liv saw me snacking on some cheese and apple so she took down a string cheese and a 1/4 of an apple. Later, Duane and I decided we weren't very hungry when it was dinner time but guess who was? Olivia ate a full dinner like she hadn't eaten all day....it was insane! We hope you all had a lovely Easter with family and friends!

I cannot even contain my excitement for this coming weekend - Alex and GG are coming for a visit!!!
