Friday was an early afternoon for all of us and that was really nice. We headed to Stillwater for dinner and to walk around. A pit stop along the way gave us a chance to put a new cover on our boat (which is sadly now being stored outside). Teddy Bear Park was our first stop in Stillwater and then shortly after we got there, Liv said she wanted to eat. She ate a great dinner so we walked down to Cherry Berry for a treat. We ended the night in a store that I love and before I knew it, the big Teddy Bear Daddy was piling up boxes to buy for Liv. The spoiled little thing just added Calico Critters to her list of toys. When I asked why she was getting it, Duane said, "umm....I'll think of a reason." I have yet to hear the reason.
Saturday morning Olivia played with her new toy and then we pulled her away to run errands. She napped and then we headed to Meat-a-palooza; it's basically a celebration of bacon. We took our yummy lamb burgers (with roasted red pepper spread), 2 people brought meatballs and the host of the party made bacon bacon cheeseburger. You read that correctly - it was ground bacon made into a patty and then bacon strips on top. It was like MN State Fair food - a bite is good and then it's too much. Olivia had a great time playing with her "classmate" Nora.
Raisin break (after dinner of course) |
We were all pretty chilled from having been outside so we headed to Panera for hot soup! When we decided where to go, Olivia piped up from the backseat, "I want mac-n-cheese, tuna fish and pickle!" It was hilarious! She floored us by cleaning up her mac-n-cheese, half a tuna sandwich, a pickle, some bread with soup and a yogurt. Wow. I was still cold when we got home so we all had a little hot chocolate before Liv's nap. It was her first time having hot chocolate and she loved it; although, she wanted "warm chocolate, not hot." Later that evening, we had a lovely dinner with our neighbor, Jean, at her house.
Monday morning was still cool and very cloudy. Duane went to the gym and Olivia and I did random things around the house. She took a great nap, though, so Duane and I detailed both of our cars and prepped dinner. The Bowe's came over later in the afternoon and we had an amazing Memorial Day dinner - Duane's BBQ chicken (which was also smoked), twice baked potatoes, corn bake and a DQ ice cream cake for dessert. We were all stuffed!
I hope all the blog readers had a fantastic holiday weekend! Please send warm, sunny vibes our way so that hopefully we can start our summer....
