Happy 4th Birthday, Olivia!

Olivia Rose is 4 years old! It's hard to believe but ready or not, our little lady is already 4 years old! Since her birthday officially fell on a Tuesday, we celebrated a little early with Jaron & Cyrstal the Sunday before. They came over for dinner and cake - Olivia wanted lasagna and chocolate cake with pink frosting. Sunday morning I made the lasagna and after she napped, we made her cake. For some reason, I decided to attempt a round cake and ice the thing myself....not a good idea for someone with the baking skills of an 8th grade home-ec student. The actual cake part turned out great (because it came from a box mix) but the icing did not. I know what to do next time, so that's a start, I guess, right?! (Mara - please don't laugh when you see the pictures of the cake!)

I guess this means we're bad singers?!

and she also received a decoration for her room - it'll match perfectly!
On Tuesday, September 16, we asked Liv where she wanted to go out to dinner for her birthday and she chose Los Tortillas (a local Mexican restaurant). I was so relieved, I was almost sure she was going to pick Red Robin....ugh. Anyway, we rushed home from work and picked her up at school and headed to the restaurant. She must have had too much fun at school because dinner was touch and go....she wasn't in the best of moods. At home though, she turned it around and enjoyed opening her presents. She opened gifts from Andrea & Ryan's family, Alex & GG and us. I was very proud when she opened one of the gifts from me and Duane and exclaimed, "This is what I wanted for my birthday!" It was a book! :)
