Olivia turned 5 years old on September 16! I still have a hard time accepting the fact that we have a 5 year old....I mean seriously, how has the time gone this fast?! Olivia is growing up to be such an amazing little person. She is smart, funny, stubborn but oh-so-sweet and our little rule follower.
Her day started out with a birthday hug and kiss from Duane, Annie and me. Before lunch, her class played birthday bingo and then Duane came over to read to the class. Olivia picked "The Gruffalo" and she wanted Duane to read. He did a great job and all of the kids loved him. We had lunch together in the BSC cafeteria and Liv thought she was pretty special!
The birthday girl requested homemade lasagna and chocolate cake with white frosting and sprinkles. We had dinner and cake and then Olivia opened up presents.

While Olivia received all kinds of great gifts, the Ella wedding dress took the prize for best gift - she loves this dress! |
Since we've never had an official birthday party for Olivia, and she turned the big 5, we decided to have a party with some of her friends. Birthday parties for kids are overwhelming and I just didn't have the energy (or the time) to plan something extravagant. So, I emailed an ice cream shop in St. Paul and asked if they could "host" our party - they agreed. Cold Front could accommodate 10 kids max and parents so it was easy planning. First we had lunch with the Stone family at Punch Pizza - Liv's choice. Then, we showed up at Cold Front, ordered ice cream and had a great time!
